There were so many great shows at New York Fashion Week this season. As a stylist, it is important to keep your eye out for the new and exciting designers! Here are a few of my favorite New York designers that you may or may not have heard of.
Jonathan Simkhai
Jonathan has already attracted a solid celebrity following with his edgy yet feminine designs. I love the palette of this collection and the subtle sexuality in the designs. Shattered glass was the inspiration behind this season. He actually broke tumblers, photographed them and used those images to create the textiles for his Spring collection.
Giulietta
My clients have worn a lot of Giulietta on the red carpet. This collection was absolutely her strongest to date! I loved the use of beading, the fun and flirty designs and the candy colored fabrics. Not only is Sophia super talented, but she is THE sweetest person. I look forward to seeing more from her… after her recent partnership with Cieffe Srl, the esteemed Italian factory where the Giulietta collection—alongside many big-name brands—is produced, it is said that she will be making shoes! Can’t wait.
Rosie Assoulin
In just over a year, Rosie Assoulin has quickly developed a cult following. I love her use of color! There is something both dramatic, yet effortless and wearable about her collection. The fashion world definitely has their eye on her.
Delpozo
There is a lot of whimsy in this Delpozo collection. Designer Josep Font, does a seamless job of blending futuristic shapes with feminine qualities. This luxury prêt-à-couture fashion brand based in Madrid is a personal favorite.
Valentina Kova
From Parsons to Paris and back to NYC, Valentina Kova is an artisan I’m keeping my eye on. She presented for the first time at New York Fashion Week and it was outstanding. I attended the presentation and it was clear that everyone knew that they were seeing something special. I will definitely be using some of her pieces on my clients. She is certainly one to keep your eye on! You may have seen some of her pieces on Lady Gaga, Lorde and Julianne Moore to name a few.
